Cooper Solutions has helped one of the region’s most successful dealership groups celebrate an anniversary with a major landmark, the Brindley Group – the largest family owned car dealership group in the West Midlands.
And at the start of its 80th anniversary, Brindley has just hit the 35,000 mark for the number of days that courtesy vehicles have been insured on the roads using Cooper Solutions FullCover software.
The software has helped Brindley, which sells around 11,000 vehicles per year from its 12 sites across the West Midlands, to manage their courtesy car fleet in a more efficient way.
Barry Cooper, managing director of Cooper Solutions, said technology has massively boosted efficiency for dealerships in the way they manage their fleet.
“Courtesy cars have always been viewed as a costly and time-consuming way of ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction,” he said. “They were a necessary evil from an administration point of view.
“But our software has transformed that process by reducing the time spent by dealers in arranging supply, lowering the cost of insurance and allowing them to recover significant levels of cost.
“To their customers, the whole process is simpler, quicker and therefore more professional.
“We target dealers by reputation and Brindley was one of the first on our list. We began working with them four years ago on just four sites, but now look after all their dealerships. As they have grown we have grown with them.”
Brindley, which turns over around £150 million a year and employs more than 300 staff, began with a garage at Codsall near Wolverhampton and now sells 10 brands of cars.
Managing director Che Watson said: “The group has, to a very large extent, been built on maintaining customer service. The world may be a vastly different place than when the company was founded but is still very much our guiding principle.
“We run around 100 courtesy cars across our sites and the vast majority will be out on the road every day. That used to come with a heavy workload in terms of administration and time, but that has been eliminated by the Cooper Solutions software programme and both we and the customers benefit.”
Founded 80 years ago at Codsall, Wolverhampton the Brindley Group today is the largest family owned car dealership group in the West Midlands.
